Miserable Miles is a fun and challenging 5.5 km obstacle race that takes contestants over a 212 meter vertical ascent through the stunning vistas of Misery Mountain, located in northern Alberta’s community of Peace River.
Miserable Miles is a fun and challenging 5.5 km obstacle race that takes contestants over a 212 meter vertical ascent through the stunning vistas of Peace River’s Misery Mountain.
The volunteer led event was born out of a passion for a good challenge, a respect and love of the natural beauty of the Peace River valley, and most importantly, to promote and support the communities of the Peace River region.
In September of 2016, the very first Miserable Miles race attracted 149 challengers from all around the region, and was able to raise approximately $2500 in support of the Peace River Ski Club. Since then, we have registered up to 200 racers each year, and have raised funds for worthy charitble causes in the local area.
Miserable Miles is a grassroots event that celebrates community spirit. The sucess of event is made possible through the countless volunteers, local municipal governments and businesses – each who gave their time, direct financial contributions, and in-kind donations tomake a celebration of the beauty of our region a reality.
